Showdown][sd-logo]\r\n\r\n[![npm version](https://badge.fury.io/js/devextreme-showdown.svg)](http://badge.fury.io/js/devextreme-showdown)\r\n\r\n------\r\n\r\nShowdown is a Javascript Markdown to HTML converter, based on the original works by John Gruber.\r\nShowdown can be used client side (in the browser) or server side (with NodeJs).\r\n\r\n\r\n**This fork was created to fix the [CVE-2020-7774](https://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=CVE-2020-7774) vulnerability and keep dependencies up to date**\r\n\r\n## License\r\n\r\nDevExtreme Showdown is released under the BSD-3-Clause license.\r\n\r\n## Installation\r\n\r\n### Download tarball\r\n\r\nYou can download the latest release tarball directly from [releases][releases]\r\n\r\n### npm (server-side)\r\n\r\n npm install devextreme-showdown\r\n\r\n### CDN\r\n\r\nYou can also use one of several CDNs available: \r\n\r\n* jsDelivr\r\n\r\n https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/npm/devextreme-showdown@<version tag>/dist/showdown.min.js\r\n\r\n* unpkg\r\n \r\n https://unpkg.com/devextreme-showdown/dist/showdown.min.js\r\n\r\n*Note*: Replace `<version tag>` with an actual version you're interested in, for instance `1.0.0`.\r\n\r\n## Quick Example\r\n\r\n### Node\r\n\r\n```js\r\nvar showdown = require('devextreme-showdown'),\r\n converter = new showdown.Converter(),\r\n text = '# hello, markdown!',\r\n html = converter.makeHtml(text);\r\n```\r\n\r\n### Browser\r\n\r\n```js\r\nvar converter = new showdown.Converter(),\r\n text = '# hello, markdown!',\r\n html = converter.makeHtml(text);\r\n```\r\n\r\n### Output \r\n\r\nBoth examples should output...\r\n\r\n```html\r\n
hello, markdown!
\r\n```\r\n\r\n## Options\r\n\r\nYou can change some of showdown's default behavior through options. \r\n\r\n### Setting options\r\n\r\nOptions can be set:\r\n\r\n#### Globally\r\n\r\nSetting a \"global\" option affects all instances of showdown\r\n\r\n```js\r\nshowdown.setOption('optionKey', 'value');\r\n```\r\n\r\n#### Locally\r\nSetting a \"local\" option only affects the specified Converter object. \r\nLocal options can be set:\r\n\r\n * **through the constructor**\r\n    ```js\r\n    var converter = new showdown.Converter({optionKey: 'value'});\r\n    ```\r\n\r\n * **through the setOption() method**\r\n    ```js\r\n    var converter = new showdown.Converter();\r\n    converter.setOption('optionKey', 'value');\r\n    ```\r\n\r\n### Getting an option\r\n\r\nShowdown provides 2 methods (both local and global) to retrieve previous set options.\r\n\r\n#### getOption()\r\n\r\n```js\r\n// Global\r\nvar myOption = showdown.getOption('optionKey');\r\n\r\n//Local\r\nvar myOption = converter.getOption('optionKey');\r\n```\r\n\r\n#### getOptions()\r\n\r\n```js\r\n// Global\r\nvar showdownGlobalOptions = showdown.getOptions();\r\n\r\n//Local\r\nvar thisConverterSpecificOptions = converter.getOptions();\r\n```\r\n\r\n### Retrieve the default options\r\n\r\nYou can get showdown's default options with:\r\n```js\r\nvar defaultOptions = showdown.getDefaultOptions();\r\n```\r\n\r\n### Valid Options\r\n\r\n * **omitExtraWLInCodeBlocks**: (boolean) [default false] Omit the trailing newline in a code block. Ex:\r\n   \r\n    This:\r\n    ```html\r\n

var foo = 'bar';\r\n

\r\n    ```\r\n    Becomes this:\r\n    ```html\r\n

var foo = 'bar';

\r\n ```\r\n\r\n * **noHeaderId**: (boolean) [default false] Disable the automatic generation of header ids.\r\n Setting to true overrides **prefixHeaderId**\r\n\r\n * **customizedHeaderId**: (boolean) [default false] Use text in curly braces as header id. **(since v1.7.0)**\r\n Example:\r\n ```\r\n ## Sample header {real-id} will use real-id as id\r\n ```\r\n\r\n * **ghCompatibleHeaderId**: (boolean) [default false] Generate header ids compatible with github style\r\n (spaces are replaced with dashes and a bunch of non alphanumeric chars are removed) **(since v1.5.5)**\r\n\r\n * **prefixHeaderId**: (string/boolean) [default false] Add a prefix to the generated header ids.\r\n Passing a string will prefix that string to the header id. Setting to `true` will add a generic 'section' prefix.\r\n\r\n * **rawPrefixHeaderId**: (boolean) [default false] Setting this option to true will prevent showdown from modifying the prefix.\r\n This might result in malformed IDs (if, for instance, the \" char is used in the prefix).\r\n Has no effect if prefixHeaderId is set to false. **(since v 1.7.3)**\r\n\r\n * **rawHeaderId**: (boolean) [default false] Remove only spaces, ' and \" from generated header ids (including prefixes),\r\n replacing them with dashes (-). WARNING: This might result in malformed ids **(since v1.7.3)**\r\n \r\n * **headerLevelStart**: (integer) [default 1] Set the header starting level. For instance, setting this to 3 means that\r\n\r\n ```md\r\n # foo\r\n ```\r\n will be parsed as \r\n \r\n ```html\r\n
foo
\r\n ```\r\n\r\n * **parseImgDimensions**: (boolean) [default false] Enable support for setting image dimensions from within markdown syntax.\r\n Examples:\r\n ```\r\n ![foo](foo.jpg =100x80) simple, assumes units are in px\r\n ![bar](bar.jpg =100x*) sets the height to \"auto\"\r\n ![baz](baz.jpg =80%x5em) Image with width of 80% and height of 5em\r\n ```\r\n\r\n * **simplifiedAutoLink**: (boolean) [default false] Turning this option on will enable automatic linking to urls.\r\n This means that:\r\n\r\n ```md\r\n some text www.google.com\r\n ```\r\n will be parsed as \r\n ```html\r\n
some text www.google.com\r\n ```\r\n \r\n * ~~**excludeTrailingPunctuationFromURLs**: (boolean) [default false] This option excludes trailing punctuation from autolinking urls.\r\n Punctuation excluded: `. ! ? ( )`. Only applies if **simplifiedAutoLink** option is set to `true`.~~\r\n \r\n * **literalMidWordUnderscores**: (boolean) [default false] Turning this on will stop showdown from interpreting\r\n underscores in the middle of words as `` and `` and instead treat them as literal underscores.\r\n\r\n Example:\r\n \r\n ```md\r\n some text with__underscores__in middle\r\n ```\r\n will be parsed as\r\n ```html\r\n
some text with__underscores__in middle
\r\n ```\r\n\r\n * ~~**literalMidWordAsterisks**: (boolean) [default false] Turning this on will stop showdown from interpreting asterisks\r\n in the middle of words as `` and `` and instead treat them as literal asterisks.~~\r\n \r\n * **strikethrough**: (boolean) [default false] Enable support for strikethrough syntax.\r\n `~~strikethrough~~` as `<del>strikethrough</del>`\r\n \r\n * **tables**: (boolean) [default false] Enable support for tables syntax. Example:\r\n \r\n ```md\r\n | h1 | h2 | h3 |\r\n |:------|:-------:|--------:|\r\n | 100 | [a][1] | ![b][2] |\r\n | *foo* | **bar** | ~~baz~~ |\r\n ```\r\n \r\n See the wiki for more info\r\n\r\n * **tablesHeaderId**: (boolean) [default false] If enabled adds an id property to table headers tags.\r\n\r\n * **ghCodeBlocks**: (boolean) [default true] Enable support for GFM code block style.\r\n\r\n * **tasklists**: (boolean) [default false] Enable support for GFM tasklists. Example:\r\n \r\n ```md\r\n - [x] This task is done\r\n - [ ] This is still pending\r\n ```\r\n * **smoothLivePreview**: (boolean) [default false] Prevents weird effects in live previews due to incomplete input\r\n \r\n * **smartIndentationFix**: (boolean) [default false] Tries to smartly fix indentation problems related to es6 template\r\n strings in the midst of indented code.\r\n\r\n * **disableForced4SpacesIndentedSublists**: (boolean) [default false] Disables the requirement of indenting sublists\r\n by 4 spaces for them to be nested, effectively reverting to the old behavior where 2 or 3 spaces were enough.\r\n **(since v1.5.0)**\r\n \r\n * **simpleLineBreaks**: (boolean) [default false] Parses line breaks as `
`, without\r\n   needing 2 spaces at the end of the line **(since v1.5.1)**\r\n \r\n   ```md\r\n   a line  \r\n   wrapped in two\r\n   ```\r\n    \r\n   turns into:\r\n    \r\n   ```html\r\n
a line
\r\n   wrapped in two
\r\n ```\r\n\r\n * **requireSpaceBeforeHeadingText**: (boolean) [default false] Makes adding a space between `#` and the header text mandatory **(since v1.5.3)**\r\n \r\n * **ghMentions**: (boolean) [default false] Enables github @mentions, which link to the username mentioned **(since v1.6.0)**\r\n \r\n * **ghMentionsLink**: (string) [default `https://github.com/{u}`] Changes the link generated by @mentions.\r\n Showdown will replace `{u}` with the username. Only applies if ghMentions option is enabled.\r\n Example: `@tivie` with ghMentionsOption set to `//mysite.com/{u}/profile` will result in `@tivie`\r\n \r\n * **encodeEmails**: (boolean) [default true] Enable e-mail addresses encoding through the use of Character Entities, transforming ASCII e-mail addresses into its equivalent decimal entities. (since v1.6.1)\r\n\r\n NOTE: Prior to version 1.6.1, emails would always be obfuscated through dec and hex encoding.\r\n\r\n * **openLinksInNewWindow**: (boolean) [default false] Open all links in new windows\r\n (by adding the attribute `target=\"_blank\"` to `` tags) **(since v1.7.0)**\r\n\r\n * **backslashEscapesHTMLTags**: (boolean) [default false] Support for HTML Tag escaping. ex: `\\
foo\\
` **(since v1.7.2)**\r\n\r\n * **emoji**: (boolean) [default false] Enable emoji support. Ex: `this is a :smile: emoji`\r\n For more info on available emojis, see https://github.com/showdownjs/showdown/wiki/Emojis **(since v.1.8.0)**\r\n\r\n * **underline**: (boolean) [default false] ***EXPERIMENTAL FEATURE*** Enable support for underline.\r\n Syntax is **double** or **triple** **underscores** ex: `__underlined word__`. With this option enabled, underscores are no longer parses into `` and ``.\r\n\r\n * **completeHTMLDocument**: (boolean) [default false] Outputs a complete html document,\r\n including `
`, `
` and `
` tags' instead of an HTML fragment. (since v.1.8.5)\r\n\r\n * **metadata**: (boolean) [default false] Enable support for document metadata (defined at the top of the document\r\n between `«««` and `»»»` or between `---` and `---`). (since v.1.8.5)\r\n \r\n ```js\r\n var conv = new showdown.Converter({metadata: true});\r\n var html = conv.makeHtml(someMd);\r\n var metadata = conv.getMetadata(); // returns an object with the document metadata\r\n ```\r\n\r\n * **splitAdjacentBlockquotes**: (boolean) [default false] Split adjacent blockquote blocks.(since v.1.8.6)\r\n\r\n**NOTE**: Please note that until **version 1.6.0**, all of these options are ***DISABLED*** by default in the cli tool.\r\n\r\n\r\n## Flavors\r\n\r\nYou can also use flavors or presets to set the correct options automatically, so that showdown behaves like popular markdown flavors.\r\n\r\nCurrently, the following flavors are available:\r\n\r\n * original - original markdown flavor as in [John Gruber's spec](https://daringfireball.net/projects/markdown/)\r\n * vanilla - showdown base flavor (as from v1.3.1)\r\n * github - GFM (GitHub Flavored Markdown)\r\n\r\n\r\n### Global\r\n```javascript\r\nshowdown.setFlavor('github');\r\n```\r\n\r\n### Instance\r\n```javascript\r\nconverter.setFlavor('github');\r\n```\r\n\r\n\r\n## CLI Tool\r\n\r\nShowdown also comes bundled with a Command Line Interface tool. You can check the [CLI wiki page][cli-wiki] for more info\r\n\r\n## Integration with AngularJS\r\n\r\nShowdownJS project also provides seamlessly integration with AngularJS via a \"plugin\".\r\nPlease visit https://github.com/showdownjs/ngShowdown for more information.\r\n\r\n## Integration with TypeScript\r\n\r\nIf you're using TypeScript you maybe want to use the types from [DefinitelyTyped][definitely-typed]\r\n\r\n## Integration with SystemJS/JSPM\r\n\r\nIntegration with SystemJS can be obtained via the third party [\"system-md\" plugin](https://github.com/guybedford/system-md).\r\n\r\n## Integration with VueJS\r\n\r\nTo use ShowdownJS as a Vue component quickly, you can check [vue-showdown](https://vue-showdown.js.org/).\r\n\r\n## XSS vulnerability\r\n\r\nShowdown doesn't sanitize the input. This is by design since markdown relies on it to allow certain features to be correctly parsed into HTML.\r\nThis, however, means XSS injection is quite possible.\r\n\r\nPlease refer to the wiki article [Markdown's XSS Vulnerability (and how to mitigate it)][xss-wiki]\r\nfor more information.\r\n\r\n## Extensions\r\n\r\nShowdown allows additional functionality to be loaded via extensions. (you can find a list of known showdown extensions [here][ext-wiki])\r\nYou can also find a boilerplate, to create your own extensions in [this repository][boilerplate-repo]\r\n\r\n### Client-side Extension Usage\r\n\r\n```js\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nvar converter = new showdown.Converter({ extensions: ['twitter'] });\r\n```\r\n\r\n### Server-side Extension Usage\r\n\r\n```js\r\nvar showdown = require('devextreme-showdown'),\r\n myExtension = require('myExtension'),\r\n converter = new showdown.Converter({ extensions: ['myExtension'] });\r\n```\r\n\r\n## Tests\r\n\r\nA suite of tests is available which require node.js. Once node is installed, run the following command from\r\nthe project root to install the dependencies:\r\n\r\n npm install\r\n\r\nOnce installed the tests can be run from the project root using:\r\n\r\n npm test\r\n\r\nNew test cases can easily be added. Create a markdown file (ending in `.md`) which contains the markdown to test.\r\nCreate a `.html` file of the exact same name. It will automatically be tested when the tests are executed with `mocha`.\r\n\r\n\r\n## Credits\r\nFull credit list at https://github.com/showdownjs/showdown/blob/master/CREDITS.md\r\n\r\nShowdown is powered by:
\r\n[![webstorm](https://www.jetbrains.com/webstorm/documentation/docs/logo_webstorm.png)](https://www.jetbrains.com/webstorm/)\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n[sd-logo]: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/showdownjs/logo/master/dist/logo.readme.png\r\n[legacy-branch]: https://github.com/showdownjs/showdown/tree/legacy\r\n[releases]: https://github.com/showdownjs/showdown/releases\r\n[changelog]: https://github.com/showdownjs/showdown/blob/master/CHANGELOG.md\r\n[wiki]: https://github.com/showdownjs/showdown/wiki\r\n[cli-wiki]: https://github.com/showdownjs/showdown/wiki/CLI-tool\r\n[definitely-typed]: https://github.com/DefinitelyTyped/DefinitelyTyped/tree/master/types/showdown\r\n[xss-wiki]: https://github.com/showdownjs/showdown/wiki/Markdown's-XSS-Vulnerability-(and-how-to-mitigate-it)\r\n[ext-wiki]: https://github.com/showdownjs/showdown/wiki/extensions\r\n[coding-rules]: https://github.com/showdownjs/code-style/blob/master/README.md\r\n[ng-commit-guide]: https://github.com/showdownjs/code-style/blob/master/README.md#commit-message-convention\r\n[boilerplate-repo]: https://github.com/showdownjs/extension-boilerplate","users":{}}
